“Friends and supporters, Today I’m announcing my run for California Governor in 2018 as a Libertarian. Many of you have known that I have long supported libertarian ideas (including in my book The Transhumanist Wager). So, in a continuing effort to improve America and bring radical science, technology, and freedom to the people, I’m going to run in my home state for Governor under the Libertarian banner. More than ever we need new ideas and policies to help us get through these changing and challenging times.” Zoltan Istvan

Below, Zoltan Istvan’s ideaXme interview. Find out how he is challenging our belief system and convincing many that death, just like a disease needs to be cured.

Background:

Zoltan is an American-Hungarian, a religious and philosophy graduate with a chip in his hand that unlocks his front door and starts his car. He is looking forward to the day when he doesn’t need to eat and he can merge with a machine.

Zoltan Istvan has explored over 100 countries, many as a journalist for the National Geographic Channel, writing, filming, and appearing in dozens of television stories, articles, and webcasts. His work has also been featured by The New York Times, Outside, Wired UK, Slate, Vice, San Francisco Chronicle, BBC Radio, CNN, CBS, RT, Fox News, the Travel Channel, and in many other media. In addition to his award-winning coverage of the war in Kashmir, he gained worldwide attention for pioneering and popularising the extreme sport of volcano boarding.

He has also held the position of director for the international conservation group WildAid, leading armed patrol units to stop the billion-dollar illegal wildlife trade in Southeast Asia.

In 2013 Zoltan published “The Transhumanist Wager,” an award-winning fictional thriller describing philosopher Jethro Knights and his unwavering quest for immortality via science and technology. Zoltan writes futurist and transhumanist-themed blogs for The Huffington Post, Psychology Today, and Vice’s Motherboard.
