Ira Pastor, ideaXme life sciences ambassador and founder of Bioquark, interviews Dr. Laurie Betito, President of the Sexual Health Network of Quebec and Director of the PornHub Sexual Wellness Center.
Ira Pastor comments:
Today, we are going to journey into the fascinating intersection of human sexuality, psychology and aging.
Today we are joined by Dr. Laurie Betito, a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialty in sex therapy, who has been a practicing psychotherapist for over 30 years.
Dr. Betito has a bachelors in psychology and master of social work from McGill University, and completed her doctoral work under Dr. Ellen Moss, Université du Québec à Montréal, where her PhD dissertation focused on female survivors of incest and their attachment relationships in adulthood.
She also studied at the University of California at Los Angeles, with Dr. Gail Wyatt, whose research examines women’s consensual and abusive sexual relationships.
Dr. Betito’s Career
In addition to having two private practices, Dr. Betito is also a syndicated broadcaster, with her nightly radio talk show Passion in Montreal, covering all topics related to love, sex and relationships, President of the Sexual Health Network of Quebec which advocates for sex education in schools, and also the author of The Sex Bible For People Over 50: The Complete Guide to Sexual Love for Mature Couples.
She is also Director of the PornHub Sexual Wellness Center, a free virtual center meant to help educate people on a variety of sex-related questions.
Outside of the domain of sexuality, she also works with patients with a broad range of psychological disorders including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and Autism spectrum (Asperger’s) conditions.
On this episode we will hear from Dr. Betito:
About her background, how she became interested in psychology, psychotherapy, and sexual therapy. Some of the big ideas and themes in regards to aging and “sexual longevity” that are popping up on the “healthy longevity” conference circuit. A general discussion about the success of her book The Sex Bible For People Over 50. Her role in the sexual wellness center component of PornHub and her general views on the pros/cons of pornography in her practice. Her future visions for the field of “sexual bio-hacking.”
