Ira Pastor, ideaXme longevity and aging ambassador and founder of Bioquark interviews Tassilo Weber, co-founder of Yolife.
Ira Pastor comments:
There’s a term used in the life extension movement known as “Longevity Escape Velocity” (LEV) – sometimes referred to as Actuarial Escape Velocity. It is a hypothetical situation which assumes that at some time in the future human life expectancy will be extended longer than the time that is passing. For instance, in some given year X, in which longevity escape velocity is maintained, it means many of the different technological advances that we have been profiling on this show will have increased life expectancy more than the year than just went by.
Living healthier for longer
Living healthier for longer is a simple enough concept but there are 3 problems:
1) We don’t know when LEV will arrive.
2) We have to stay in a good enough shape and health to get us to LEV.
3) With the information overload in 2019 from all sources (internet, social media, word of mouth) the majority of the public still have little understanding of how to accomplish this.
Increasing healthy lifespan
So, today’s guest is going to take us further along this theme. His new company Yolife advocates for specific activities which pose a common sense approach to increase the chances of a longer life. It is a cell phone app, a tool for helping everyone on their personalized bridge to increase their healthy lifespans. The organisation’s audacious mission: “Add 15 healthy years to the lives of 1 million people”.
Tassilo was raised in Berlin, Germany. His background is in design and philosophy, initially working within education and smart city development. Following a near death experience, he transitioned to the field of exponential technologies, transhumanism and radical life extension.
Better quality of life for longer
He is the author of Life Extension Design: Redesign your life for optimal health, performance, and longevity in order to become part of the first generation to choose whether to age and die … or not.
On this show Tassilo describes:
- His background, path through the philosophy and design world, how he became interested in life extension science, and how he ended up co-founding Yolife.
- His thoughts on why in 2019 the majority of the public is still so oblivious to the simple, common sense things that keep us alive and healthy, and possibly extend our lives.
- Yolife’s functionality, where it is today in the development process and the new components coming online. Moreover, Weber talks of his longer-term vision and objectives for the organisation.
Lastly, find out why Tassilo Weber said that he would like to go back in time to meet Friedrich Nietzsche, a German philosopher (1844–1900) and cultural critic, famous for his criticisms of traditional European morality and religion, as well as of conventional philosophical, social and political ideas associated with the modern world.
